DeepSeek is not just watching the humanoid robotics boom from the model-lab sidelines. According to The Economic Times, the Chinese AI company has invested $20.8 million in Unitree Robotics' Shanghai IPO and plans to work with the robot maker on advanced AI models for humanoid robots.
That is the important part. The check itself is not large by global AI standards, and it is modest beside the valuations now attached to top humanoid companies. But as a strategic placement, it says something about where China's robotics market is heading: the winners may be the companies that can connect low-cost robot manufacturing, local supply chains, and capable domestic AI models into one vertically integrated system.
